5 Things to Do in Charlotte NC in May 2025 (One of Them Will Surprise You)
May in Charlotte is genuinely one of the best times to be here. The weather is good, the city is alive, and there's always something going on. But if you're tired of the same options and want to do something that actually means something this month, keep reading.
Here are 5 things worth showing up for in Charlotte this May.
1. Get outside at Freedom Park
If you haven't spent a slow morning at Freedom Park lately, May is the time to do it. The weather is perfect and it's one of those places that just feels good to be in. Bring coffee. Walk slow. Actually look up from your phone for a little while.
2. Check out the NoDa arts scene
NoDa is one of Charlotte's best kept secrets for anyone who wants more culture in their life. Local galleries, live music, food worth talking about. If you haven't explored it recently it's worth an afternoon.
3. Hit a local farmers market
The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is worth adding to your Saturday routine if it isn't already. Local vendors, fresh food, and that rare feeling of actually being part of your community.
4. Catch a live show uptown
Charlotte's live music scene has been growing fast. Whether it's a small venue or something bigger uptown, May has a solid lineup. Check local listings and pick something you'd never normally go to.
5. Come to Unfiltered Minds (this is the one)
Okay this one is a little different. On May 5th I'm hosting the final stop of my nationwide mental health open mic tour right here in Charlotte. And before you scroll past, hear me out.
It's not a therapy session. Not a support group. Not a lecture. It's just a room full of people who decided to show up, share something or sit and listen, and leave feeling a little less alone than when they walked in.
City after city people have walked into this event not knowing anyone and left hugging strangers. Every single time. Charlotte is my second to last stop and it's my home city which makes this one feel especially meaningful.
We're talking live music, charcuterie, giveaways, and a local painter creating art around mental health in real time. But honestly the part people remember most is the conversations.
Charlotte doesn't get another one this year.
